In June 2017, the results of the urban contest for student projects «Kharkiv – a city of youth initiatives», which is held for the second year by the initiative of Kharkiv city mayor Gennadiy Kernes, were summed up.
1200 students from all higher educational institutions of the city took part in the competition in 4 nominations: “Kharkiv is a territory of successful career”, “Smart city is creative youth”, “Native Kharkov is for sustainable development”, “Kharkiv – an open, creative, tolerant city”. At the city stage of the competition 144 projects out of 28 higher educational establishments were presented.
The contest took place in two phases – selection and presentation-protection of projects. Works of students were evaluated by expert councils consisting of teachers from 19 higher educational institutions, members of student scientific societies, representatives of the Department of Education, Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Kharkiv City Council, Kharkiv Youth City Council under the Kharkiv City Mayor.
During the second phase, at the base of Kharkiv National University of Economics named after Semen Kuznets, Kharkiv National University named after V. Karazin, Kharkiv National University of Municipal Economy named after O. Beketov and the Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after G.Scovoroda, 91 competition projects were presented. Among them there were business projects and startups aimed at creating conditions for professional development and building a successful career, implementing innovative technologies into the city and developing the latest forms of medicines, developing municipal and tourist infrastructure; social, volunteer, charitable projects.
According to the results of 2 phases in 4 nominations expert councils identified 50 winning projects, made by 111 students of 21 universities of Kharkiv.
It is pleasant to note that the 1st place in the nomination “Kharkiv – the territory of a successful career” received the project “Fish Factory” of the Kharkov State University of Food Technologies and Trade. The authors of the project, led by prof. Postnov G. and assoc. prof. Chervonyi V., students of the Faculty of Equipment and Technical Services were Starkov Vitaliy (M-15), Guly Askold (M-13), Maksimenko Mykyta (M-25).
June 15, Kharkiv Mayor Gennadiy Kernes personally awarded the winners of the student contest “Kharkiv – a city of youth initiatives”.
