Protection of the Master Degree Work by a Student from Nigeria

On January 27, 2017, for the first time in the history of the Department of food and hotel industry equipment named after M.I.Belyayev the protection of the master degree qualification work by the student-foreigner took place. Student from Nigeria, Ebonugvo Obvin Chimunya, defended master qualification work titled “Improving the production line for dry protein concentrate of whey from cottage cheese” (scientific supervisor – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Deinychenko G.). The protection was in English.
New master worked on his work for 1.5 years. First of all, the subject of the study was chosen, after it interested the master seeing that it`s results he could use for further work in his country. The topic was determined on the basis of the existing problem of processing of dairy raw materials, which is actual for the economy of Nigeria.
From the earliest days of studying Ebonugva O. Ch. worked hard in the research laboratory of the department, did experimental work at the ultrafiltration laboratory machine, carefully studied theoretical issues related to the laws of passage of the polycomponent biological liquids membrane processing. The results of the study were reflected in 1 scientific article in the collection of scientific papers of KSUFTT, 3 theses of reports at scientific conferences of young scientists and students. Also, with the participation of young master, the Department submitted an application for obtaining a Ukrainian patent for a useful model.
During the defense, which in addition to the members of the SEC was attended by the first vice-rector of the KSUFTT, professor Yancheva L. and the Head of the international department of the University, associate professor Borisova A., the master has convincingly presented the results of his work to all the present. He was able to interest the audience in his report, confidently answered the questions of the SEC members, which were asked in English, predicted the further development of his research and practical work.
The result of the protection was that the members of the State Examination Commission unanimously rated the student with an “excellent” mark, thus giving to Ebonugva O. Ch. qualification level “Master” in the specialty 8.05050313 – equipment of processing and food industries.
